FlipDevices ("we", "us", "our") operates flipdevices.com, where U.S. consumers can sell used phones, laptops, tablets, watches, consoles, and audio gear for cash. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. By using our site, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers: name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing/shipping address.
  • Device information you submit: model, condition, IMEI/serial numbers, photos of the device.
  • Payment details: Zelle email or phone number, PayPal email — only what is needed to send you payment. We do not collect or store credit/debit card numbers.
  • Transaction history: offers issued, devices received, payment status.
  • Communications: emails, SMS messages, and customer-service chats with us.
  • Automatically collected: IP address, browser type/version, device type, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps, general location (city/state level) from IP, and similar log data.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate and process your offer and complete your sale.
  • To send your prepaid shipping label, track your package, and send your payment.
  • To communicate with you about your order via email and, if you opt in, SMS.
  • To verify device ownership, IMEI status, and detect fraud, stolen devices, or carrier locks.
  • To meet legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.
  • To improve our site, services, pricing, and customer support.
  • To respond to support requests and resolve disputes.

4. SMS / Text Messaging

FlipDevices does not share or sell mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in consent is not shared with any third party for any purpose.

If you provide your mobile number and check the SMS consent box at checkout, you agree to receive transactional SMS messages from FlipDevices related to your offer, including: offer quotes, shipping label and tracking updates, item verification, payment confirmations, and replies to customer support questions.

  • Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe.

  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only the minimum data they need to perform their function. These include:

  • Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx) — to generate prepaid labels and track packages.
  • Payment processors (Zelle, PayPal) — to send your payout.
  • SMS provider (Twilio) — to deliver transactional text messages.
  • Email provider (Mailgun and similar) — to send transactional emails.
  • Hosting and infrastructure (Cloudflare, Supabase) — to host the site and securely store order data.
  • IMEI / device-status checkers — to verify device eligibility and detect blacklisted/stolen devices.
  • Analytics — aggregated, non-identifying analytics about site usage.
  • Law enforcement and legal authorities — when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to investigate fraud or report stolen devices.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share data with advertisers or marketing networks.

6. Data Retention

We retain order records, device IMEIs/serials, and communications for as long as required to (a) fulfill your order, (b) comply with tax, accounting, and anti-fraud obligations (typically 7 years for financial records), and (c) defend against legal claims. Marketing and analytics data is retained for up to 26 months. You may request earlier deletion under Section 9 below, subject to legal retention requirements.

Devices we receive are factory-wiped on intake. We do not retain the personal data stored on any device you ship to us.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage at rest, role-based access controls, secure password hashing, and limited employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we promptly investigate any suspected unauthorized access and will notify affected users as required by law.

8. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary: required to operate the site, maintain your session, and process your order.
  • Functional: remember your preferences (e.g., last device selected).
  • Analytics: aggregated, non-identifying data about site traffic to improve UX.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the site from functioning properly. We do not use cross-site advertising or retargeting cookies.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

FlipDevices is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Our service requires users to be at least 18 years old. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please email support@flipdevices.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know: what personal information we collect, use, and share.
  • Right to delete: personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct: inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny service or charge different prices because you exercised a privacy right.
  • Authorized agent: you may designate an agent to make requests on your behalf, subject to verification.

To exercise these rights, email support@flipdevices.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

11. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and port their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising or profiling. 12. International Users

FlipDevices serves customers in the United States only. Our servers and operations are located in the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

13. Your Choices & Account Controls

  • Email: unsubscribe from non-transactional emails via the link in any email.
  • SMS: reply STOP to any text to unsubscribe.
  • Access / correction / deletion: email support@flipdevices.com.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email or by a notice on the site. Continued use of FlipDevices after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
